Before March 2018, we couldn't find street food that reminded us of home, so we made our own in our kitchen. My friends at school would always steal my lunch, a testament to the great tasting food we prepared.
In March 2018, we opened our small takeaway, Damao Jetty, on Greenlane Road. From the moment we opened, the aroma of our dishes drew people in, and our takeaway quickly became a beloved community spot.
Damao Jetty became more than a business—it was a piece of our hearts, a way to bring our past into the present. Every dish we served was filled with nostalgia, and seeing our customers enjoy the food made it all worthwhile.
The name Damao Jetty blends "Damao," a Portuguese word for "Daman," with "Jetty," reflecting the lively food stalls of our hometown at the seafront. We chose this name to honour our heritage and the vibrant food culture we miss.
